Vietnam wins prizes at Intel science fair for school students

Two Vietnamese teams have won fourth prizes at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for high-school students that took place from May 12 to 17 at Phoenix city, the US.
Do Thuy Linh, Hoang Trong Nam Anh, and Vu Mai Huong of the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for gifted students won for their water purifier made using the membrane of eggs, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
Nguyen Phuong Duy, Tran Ngoc Chau, and Truong Nhut Cuong of the Le Hong Phong High School for the gifted in Ho Chi Minh City won the prize by creating an automatic system of growing vegetables and raising fish at home.
The top award -- named for Gordon E. Moore, the founder of Intel Corporation -- worth US$75,000 went to Ionut Budisteanu, 19, of Romania who used artificial intelligence to create a low-cost, self-driving car.
He also won the highest prize in the "computer science" category.
Eesha Khare, 18, and Henry Lin, 17, of the US won the second largest prize, the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award worth $50,000.
Nearly 1,600 young scientists competed in the Intel ISEF, the world's largest international pre-college science competition. They were selected more than 70 countries, regions, and territories.
