Ea Kenh commune recognized as new-style rural area and 30th anniversary of commune establishment

            On March 10th, 2018, the People's Committee of Krong Pac district held a ceremony to announce Ea Kenh commune to be recognized as a new-style rural area and the 30th anniversary of its establishment. The ceremony had the presence of the provincial leaders including Mr. Pham Minh Tan – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Y Giang Gry Nie Knong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Doan Viet - Deputy Director of Department of Home Affairs, Head of the Provincial Commission for Emulation and Rewards; representatives of departments and sectors. Representing the district-level government had the participation of Mr. Mai Dinh Tho - Deputy Secretary; Mr. Y Lai Byă - Vice Chairman of the People's Council; Mr. Phan Tan Bay - Vice Chairman of the People's Council; Mr. Tran Quoc Vinh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee; representatives of divisions, sectors, unions of Krong Pac district. Leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee, sectors, unions and people of Ea Kenh Commune attended the ceremony.

               Ea Kenh commune was established in 1988 (separated from Ea Knuec commune) with the natural area of 4,593 hectares. The commune has more than 2,800 households with the population of 12,700 people, of which ethnic people make up 45%. The labor force working for agricultural sector accounts for approximately 90%. In 2011, the commune just reached 7 out of 19 criteria when implementing the National Target Programs for New Rural Development. However, Ea Kenh commune completed 19 out of 19 criteria of new–style rural area construction in 2017 and was recognized as a new-style rural area by Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.

                Ea Kenh commune had an average per capita income of VND18.6 million in 2011. However, the average income per capita increased to over VND35 million in 2017. The commune had 2,500 cultural families, 15 out of 15 villages which were recognized as cultural villages. 95% of the households in Ea Kenh commune had access to hygienic water. The number of schools also rose from 02 schools in 1988 to 08 schools in 2017 with the total number of 2,269 pupils, 285 officials and teachers. Ea Kenh commune is now home to 04 out of 08 schools meeting National Standards. 43.1 km of concrete roads, 3.5 km of inner field canals and 20 civil works have been built thanks to support from the State and the active participation of local people. VND76.134 billion has been mobilized to implement the National Target Programs for New Rural Development in the commune, of which the people contributed VND 13.961 billion and hundreds of working days.

             On March 7th, 2018, the People's Committee of Ea Kenh commune held the opening of the Culture, Sports Festival of ethnic groups in Ea Kenh Commune, the 43th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot victory, the 43th anniversary of Phuoc An Liberation Day, the 30th anniversary of Ea Kenh Commune establishment, and the ceremony to announce Ea Kenh commune recognized as a new-style rural area.

             The Competition was ended on on March 10th, 2018, the Organizing Committee awarded 10 first prizes, 20 second prizes, 20 third prizes, 20 consolation prizes for high-achievement teams and individuals. Thanh Xuan Village won the first prize. Tan Bac Hamlet received the second prize.  Tan Dong Hamlet and Ea Dun Village were awarded the third prize.
